Interview Prep
Your first interview feels scary — that's normal! Nobody expects a student to be perfect. They just want to see that you're honest, keen to learn, and a little prepared. You can get ready for almost everything below.
How to answer most questions
When asked “tell me about a time you…”, use 3 steps:
Situation
What was happening?
Action
What did you do? (Say “I”, not “we”.)
Result
What happened in the end?
“Our class had to organise a fundraiser (situation). I was put in charge of collecting and tracking the money (action). We raised ₹8,000 and I made sure every rupee was accounted for (result).”
Practise with free AI
Fill in a few details and copy the ready-made prompt. Paste it into a free AI chatbot (Gemini, ChatGPT, Copilot) to get mock questions, sample answers, and free resources to prepare.
Common questions
“Tell me about yourself.”
Keep it under a minute: your class/course → one or two interests → why you want this role.
“What are your strengths?”
Pick one, add proof.
“I'm reliable — I managed our event budget and kept it on track.”
“What is your weakness?”
Name a real, fixable one, plus what you're doing about it.
“I get nervous presenting, so I now volunteer to speak in class.”
Don't say “I have none.”
“Why do you want this internship/job?”
Connect it to learning.
“I want real experience in this field, not just from books.”
“Where do you see yourself in a few years?”
Show direction, not a perfect plan.
“Growing my skills and taking on more responsibility.”
“Tell me about a problem you faced.”
Use the 3 steps. Small and real is fine.
“Tell me about a mistake you made.”
Be honest, then say what you learned. Owning it calmly looks good.
“How do you handle pressure or deadlines?”
Give your real method.
“I make a list and do the most important thing first.”
“What do you know about us?”
Spend 10 minutes reading about the company before you go.
“Do you have any questions for us?”
Say yes!
“What would I do day to day?” or “What will I learn here?”
Don't say “no questions.”
Before · During · After
Before
- Research the company — 10 minutes is enough.
- Practise answers out loud (with a friend or a mirror).
- Carry a clean CV and any marksheets.
- Reach 10–15 minutes early; test the video link beforehand.
During
- Greet politely, sit up, make eye contact.
- Listen fully. Pausing to think is fine.
- Don't understand? Ask them to repeat.
- Be honest: “I haven't done that yet, but I'd like to learn.” Don't make things up.
- English is hard? Speak slowly, or ask if you can answer in Hindi.
After
- Thank them before leaving, or send a short thank-you message.
